Introduction: My Digital Brainstorm
We are living in a unique moment in history.
Over the years, technological advancements have helped shape society, influencing our work, leisure activities, and even how we communicate with each other. In recent decades, innovations like high-speed internet, smartphones, social media, and artificial intelligence (AI) have transformed the way we live.
When a new technology emerges, it can lead to disruption and political unrest.
Rapid technological advancements, particularly in AI, could make it even more challenging for society to adapt. This might partially explain the political tensions we are witnessing both in the United States and around the world.
In response, I created this Substack and its companion publication, The Informed Voter, as a place to explore how we, as individuals, can navigate this ever-changing world.
About the Author
Like everyone, my education and experience shape how I see the world. Here is a quick look at my background:
I was born in Michigan, grew up in Wisconsin, and earned my bachelor’s degree in sociology and social welfare from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My career began in marketing research at the Credit Union National Association. While living in Louisiana, I was part of the community outreach team for a government program that provided financial assistance to residents to help them rebuild their homes after hurricanes Katrina and Rita. I also volunteered for the American Marketing Association while living in Atlanta. I then spent several years blogging and expanding my knowledge of business and technology while living in Hudson, Wisconsin, which is just outside of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
In 2020, while sheltering in place due to the pandemic, I decided it was time to pursue an online master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from West Virginia University. I graduated in August 2023.
About My Digital Brainstorm
My Digital Brainstorm offers insights on communications, technology, and business, with an emphasis on helping business professionals navigate today’s complex world. My posts will draw on my experience as a marketing researcher and blogger, as well as my education in integrated marketing communications.
Although I will occasionally explore political topics, I plan to limit any discussion of politics to how policy and economic changes affect businesses while staying as nonpartisan as possible. My goal is to help business leaders and professionals make informed decisions while providing valuable insights for all readers.
About The Informed Voter
In addition to My Digital Brainstorm, I created The Informed Voter to share my thoughts and opinions on political issues. While my analysis will often reflect a moderate Democratic perspective, I plan to offer insights that will be valuable to readers across the political spectrum.
In The Informed Voter, I hope to offer useful guidance to both political leaders and everyday citizens whose votes help shape our future.
Everyone Is Welcome
Your feedback is invaluable, and I invite you to join me in exploring the ideas discussed in both publications. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and engaging with you on these important topics.

Note: I used AI to help refine this post. I wrote the first draft and then improved it using ChatGPT and Grammarly.
